We never share or sell your data.
Not to advertisers. Not to brokers. Not to shops or parts stores.
WhyLamp will never share or sell your personal data. Not to advertisers. Not to data brokers. Not to parts stores or shops. This page says what we collect, why, and what we refuse.
The short version
We will never sell your data. We will never share it so someone else can market to you. Lookup does not need an account. If you type a code, we use it to find a reading with sources. If you write to Candela, we use the message to point you to a reading. We do not build a dossier to sell.
What we collect
A code, and optional make, model, and year, when you look one up. Messages you send Candela, so she can reply. Technical logs our host may keep so the site can run: time, path, and a rough location from the network. If you join a waitlist later, the email you give us for that list.
What we do not collect today
We do not ask for a name, a VIN, or a payment card on this site. We do not run a public advertising pixel. We do not sell a list of who looked up which code.
How we use it
To return a reading with sources. To keep the site working and safe. To research a new code from public pages, then store the reading — not your name. To email you only if you asked to join a list, and only about that list.
What we never do
We never sell personal data. We never share personal data with a broker, an advertiser, or a shop for a kickback. We never trade a code lookup for a parts cart. A later Garage or reader does not change this rule.
Who can see a request
Our hosting and model providers can see a request long enough to process it. They are processors, not buyers of your data. Public pages we open for research are already public.
How long we keep it
A reading stays so the next visitor does not wait. That reading is about the code, not about you. Chat and server logs are not a permanent profile. You can ask us to delete a waitlist email you gave us.
Children
This site is for adults looking up a vehicle code. Do not send us personal information about a child.
